Your birth details are personal data. This page explains, in plain terms, exactly what happens to them. It describes what the software actually does, it is written from the code, not adapted from a template.
The short version
You type your birth date, time and place. They are sent to our server, which calculates your chart and sends it straight back to your browser. By default we do not store them, there are no analytics and no tracking of any kind, and when you close the tab the chart is gone.
There is now one exception, and it is entirely your choice: if you create an account and save a person to your cabinet, the birth details you save arestored in a database so you don't have to type them again. That only happens if you sign up and save, it is covered in full under Accounts below, and you can delete any saved person at any time. If you never create an account, nothing about the paragraph above changes.
Two things leave our server. The place nameyou type goes to a mapping service to turn “Manchester” into coordinates, never your date or time of birth. And if you ask for the written reading, your computed chart is sent to an AI provider to be interpreted into prose. That second one is new, it is the most significant thing on this page, and it is set out in full under Artificial intelligence below.

The Kept? column above is the default. If you create an account and save a person, the details you save are kept until you delete them, see Accounts.
Our hosting provider also records ordinary technical information for every request, your IP address, the time, and your browser's user-agent string. This is standard server logging, used to keep the service running and to investigate faults. We do not combine it with your birth details.
If a calculation fails, the error message is written to our server logs so we can fix it. Those messages can include the specific value that caused the failure, for example, an out-of-range year. They do not contain your full birth details or your name.
Our lawful basis
For your birth details: performance of a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). You give them to us for one purpose, to get the chart you asked for, and we use them for nothing else. For server logs: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)), namely keeping the service available and secure. For anything you save to an account, the basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), see Accounts.
Your chart is not used to make any automated decision that produces legal effects or similarly significantly affects you. It is a reflective tool, not a decision about you.
How long we keep things
Your birth details: not at all. They exist in server memory for the fraction of a second it takes to compute your chart, and are gone when the response is sent. There is nothing to delete, because there is nothing stored.
Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a short period under their standard retention, then discarded.
The one thing we keep is data you deliberately save to an account, which stays until you delete it. See Accounts.
Accounts (optional)
Everything above describes the default, no-account experience. If you create an account, two things change, and only these two.
We store the people you save.When you save someone to your cabinet, the details you save (the name you give them, their date, time and place of birth, and the coordinates and country of that place) are kept in a database so any tool can run for them without you typing it all again. They stay until you delete them. Each saved person is visible only to you: the database enforces, at the level of each individual row, that one account can never read another's data.
We store your sign-in. To sign in you give an email address and a password. The password is never kept in readable form, our authentication provider stores only a secure one-way hash of it. While you are signed in, a single session cookie keeps you signed in between pages. It is strictly necessary for the account to work and is never used for tracking.
The lawful basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). An account is an optional convenience you opt into, and you can withdraw at any time by deleting the data or closing the account.
Deleting it. You can delete any saved person from your cabinet at any moment, and it is removed straight away. To close your account entirely and erase everything, email us at hello@psychart.app and we will do it.
The account database is provided by Supabase, hosted in the EU (Ireland). Your saved details live only there. Running a tool for a saved person computes a chart from those details exactly as if you had typed them, so everything above still applies, in particular, if you then ask for a written reading, it is the computed chart that goes to the AI provider, never the saved details themselves.

Because Vercel is a US company, your data may be processed outside the UK. Those transfers rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Artificial intelligence
If you ask for the written reading, your computed chart is sent to an AI provider. That provider is Anthropic, reached through Vercel's AI Gateway. It receives the chart, your placements, houses and aspects, plus your first name if you gave one, and writes the interpretation you read. It does not receive your raw date, time or place of birth; those have already been turned into a chart before anything is sent.
The chart itself is arithmetic, and no language model touches it. Every position is calculated in code and handed to the model as a finished fact. The model may only interpret what it is given, it is never asked where a planet was, because a model asked for a number will invent one.
This only happens when you ask for a reading. Generating the chart alone contacts no AI provider at all.
We got this wrong once, and it is fair that you know. This page previously said nothing was sent to an AI provider, and promised we would update it before the reading went live. The reading shipped first and this page was inaccurate for a short period on 15 July 2026, until it was noticed and corrected. Nobody was misled deliberately, and no birth details were stored at any point, but the promise was to tell you first, and we did not.
Cookies and tracking
If you are not signed in, there are none: no cookies, no local storage, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no session recording, no third-party scripts of any kind. If you sign in, a single strictly-necessary session cookie keeps you signed in, and nothing more. There are still no analytics, no advertising and no trackers of any kind, signed in or not. This isn't a privacy posture we're claiming, it's simply what the code does, and you can verify it in your browser's network tab.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, and port your personal data. If you have never created an account, most of these have nothing to act on, because we hold nothing: no record and no profile of you. If you do have an account, they apply to the details you saved: you can see and delete any of them from your cabinet yourself at any time, and for anything else, email us at hello@psychart.app.
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd rather you told us first, but you do not have to.
Changes to this page
If what the software does changes, this page changes in the same release, not later. The date at the top is the date it last matched the code.
